Welcome to Clairstone! In this episode, you will learn how to use the English words “Sky” and “View.”

TRANSCRIPT:

Hello everyone, my name is Jasmine, and you are listening to the English ClAIRSTONE Podcast, where you can build the cornerstone of your English vocabulary! For all our new listeners, welcome to the community, and for our regulars, hello again! Before we start, I will remind you that we upload new episodes twice a week and there are transcripts for each podcast episode in English, Arabic, and Spanish at our website projectclair.org, so go check that out if you want to follow along!

Today we will look at the words “sky” and “view”

The word “sky,” spelled S-K-Y, is both a noun and a verb. As a noun, the “sky” is the upper part of space that covers the earth. The “sky” is often blue or gray, depending on the weather. An example sentence is, “Niki looks up at the birds flying in the sky.”

As a verb, to “sky” has many definitions. First, it can mean to hang something above eyesight, or the place that can be seen looking forward. To “sky” also means to hit something, like a ball, high into the air such as in the sentence “Kyle skyed/skied the ball with the baseball bat.” To “sky” can also be to jump high, for example, someone can “sky” in basketball if they jump up to catch the ball.

Our second word today, “view,” spelled V-I-E-W, can also be a noun or a verb. As a noun, a “view” is a sight or scene. For example, the sight of a city can be called a “view.” A “view” can also be the perspective or a way of seeing something, such as in the sentence “In my view, the project is a good idea.”

As a verb, to “view” means to look or watch at something. It can be both to watch closely, to see something in one specific way, or to just see something. An example sentence is, “Maddison views the painting with their best friend.”

Well, that is it for today’s episode!
