As a result of her own positive experience in therapy, Everett Uhl left a successful career in the corporate world to pursue a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. As part of her graduate education, she worked at ECU Health in the Inpatient Rehab unit providing therapeutic support and treatment to individuals and their families recovering from strokes, amputations, car accidents, and other physical traumas. She also counseled individuals pre and post-bariatric surgery, sparking her interest in the role nutrition plays in mental health.
Everett has trained in various therapeutic approaches including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Perinatal Mood Disorders, and Advanced Perinatal Mental Health Psychotherapy. She is currently working on her Nutritional Psychology certificate, examining how what we eat and gut health directly impacts psychological, behavioral, and cognitive processes and functions.
Everett primarily works with individuals navigating adverse childhood experiences or couples trying to reconnect. She most enjoys empowering and challenging her clients to be the best versions of themselves with her no-B.S. approach. She believes that therapy should contain equal parts laughter and tears.
