In the case of State v. Rivers, lawyers argue that a Black man sentenced to life in prison was denied a fair trial because the jury pool was far more White than the local population. The Justices are now considering a rule that would mandate a certain racial makeup for jury pools in Washington. We get some legal analysis and talk to a researcher who has studied the issue of race in the criminal justice system. PLUS: What exactly did Gini Thomas say to the January 6th Committee? AND: Joe Kennedy, Bremerton's 'praying coach,' may have won a legal victory, but it doesn't seem to be having the intended effect that many of his supporters may have hoped for. Guests include Jessica Levin and Peter Collins of Seattle University and ABC's Andy Field. The Northwest Politicast with Jeff Pohjola: From this Washington to that one, Jeff Pohjola will explore the issues and politics of the week. Frequent guests and top analysts break down the news to get to the heart of what matters most. Subscribe at nwnewsradio.com or on your favorite podcast app.
