The first flashlight was invented in 1898 by English inventor David Misell,called “flash” light because the light couldn’t be turned on for long and had to be rested from time to time.
in the 50s, 60s & 70s Eveready flashlight was THE most popular flashlight, and carried by almost every police officer
1967 Eveready Energizer introduced the first rechargeable flashlight
1970: The first water-resistant flashlight is introduced - again, by Energizer, also the first push button switch
1979: The first Maglite flashlight is introduced.
It became the new standard in law enforcement
1980s: The first pocket-sized flashlights are introduced
1999, the LED was made suitable for use in a flashlight. The LED bulb could be made brighter, more efficient, smaller, so many ways and in so many sizes.
LED lights have become the gold standard in handheld lighting devices, and are the current standard in law enforcement.
