The city of Dallas is launching a nationwide search to find its next police chief following the departure of Eddie García. In other news, Lewisville ISD canceled Monday classes and city utility customers were told to boil their water before using it following a water main failure Saturday night. According to a statement on the Lewisville city website, water service has been restored to all customers, but officials said the system needs to be flushed and tested before the boil water order can be lifted; Gov. Greg Abbott said Sunday he wants lawmakers to focus on subsidizing private school tuition, finding new sources of water, limiting bail for violent offenses, strengthening career training, and beefing up the state’s cybersecurity systems. Abbott also recommended that lawmakers devote some of the state budget — which includes a $24 billion surplus — to property tax relief, merit raises for teachers, border security, the power grid and school safety. And 'mourners' gathered outside American Airlines Arena on Sunday to mourn the loss of the trade of Dallas Mavericks player Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
