“I’ve only ever asked one question on this podcast before, and that was back in early 2021, I think? Back then I set a question about fake news, but this time I have something different for you. People say engineers hold a lot of answers to the climate issues we face, I like to ask though, what are your favourite engineering achievements in human history and why?”

Stuart and William attempt to answer the above question, from listener Ben from Islip, Oxfordshire, and end up branching out into a much wider and broader conversation. Not really a debate, more an off the cuff and genuine exploration.

They both share what their favourite engineering achievements are, and why. William goes for something out of this world, why Stuart opts for something much, much closer to home. Any guesses what that might be before you listen? No prizes for the correct answer, it's just an insight into how well you know you hosts.

During this episode William mentions the book by Brian W. Aldiss 'The Dark Light Years' which he thinks is well worth checking out.

How would you answer this question from listener Ben? What's your favourite engineering achievements in human history and why?
