WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit attacks Y2J backstage. Road Dogg challenges Chris Benoit. During the match WWF Tag Champions Edge and Christian attack Road Dogg and Tori. The Hardy Boyz take on Hardcore and WWF Hardcore Champion Crash Holly. During the match Perry Saturn, and Tazz get involved leading to Matt Hardy becoming new WWF Hardcore Champion.

The Big Show battles Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan in a Handicap Match but Kurt Angle attacks Big Show leading to The Acolytes making the save. Vince McMahon warns The Rock that Stone Cold Steve Austin will turn on him at WWF Backlash. Steve Blackman and D’Lo Brown team up against The Godfather and Al Snow. Afterwards, Godfather attacks Al. WWF European Champion Eddie Guerrero takes on Val Venis but Essa Rios and Lita get involved.

WWF Tag Champions Edge and Christian take on The Dudley Boyz in a non-title match but Trish Stratus takes off her robe distracing Bubba Ray, costing The Dudleyz. And in the main event WWF Champion Triple H and WWF Intercontinental Champion Chris Benoit challenge The Rock and Chris Jericho but Vince McMahon and The McMahon-Helmsley Regime lay out The People’s Champion.
