×Pianist Anastasiya Magamedova performs works by Ludwig van Beethoven , Clara Schumann and Frédéric Chopin , live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. A 2016 National YoungArts Winner, twenty-six-year-old pianist, Anastasiya Magamedova, was recently awarded 1st prize at the International Scriabin Competition in Paris and 2nd Prize at the International ArsClassica Competition. She began studying the piano at the age of 5 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and is a graduate of the Juilliard School with Academic Honors, under the tutelage of Julian Martin and Matti Raekallio; she now continues her studies in Paris. Recent engagements have taken her to perform in the Theatre of Digital Arts of Dubai, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and the Opera and Ballet State Theater of Tajikistan. Magamedova is passionate about performing and has soloed in halls such as Alice Tully Hall (NYC), Carnegie Hall’s Weill Concert Hall (NYC), Pierre Boulez Saal (Berlin) and Libby Gardner Hall (Salt Lake City, UT). She has also performed in Teatro del Pavone (Perugia, Italy) and Sala dei Notari (Perugia, Italy), soloing with the Alicante Philharmonic Orchestra. Pianist Huan Li performs works by Tania León , Johann Sebastian Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven , live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Originally from Guangdong, China, now New York-based pianist Huan Li relishes in the endless exploration of music, alone and with others. Hailed as a pianist whose playing has “subtleties of articulation and dynamics, accomplished with fleet-fingered precision” (New York Concert Review), Huan has been heard in Austria, China, France, and the United States as both soloist and chamber musician. Notable venues include Alice Tully Hall, The National Grand Theater of China, and Solitär at Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg. She received both the Bachelor and Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Hung-Kuan Chen and Robert McDonald. Pianist Kate Liu performs works by Franz Liszt , Alexander Scriabin, and Frederick Chopin , live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Kate Liu gained international acclaim after winning the Bronze Medal and Best Mazurka Prize at the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland. She was also awarded the audience favorite prize voted by the Polish public on the Polish National Radio. As a soloist, Kate has performed in many important venues, such as the Seoul Arts Center, Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Carnegie’s Weill Hall, Severance Hall in Cleveland, La Maison Symphonique de Montréal, Warsaw National Philharmonic, Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Shanghai Concert Hall, Osaka Symphony Hall, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra Hall, Phillip’s Collection, and others. She has collaborated with orchestras including the Cleveland Orchestra, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, Polish Radio Orchestra, Poznan Philharmonic, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Daegu Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, and Evanston Symphony Orchestra. Pianist Chaeyoung Park perform works by Johann Sebastian Bach , transcribed by Vivaldi, Felix Mendelssohn , Ana Sokolovíc , and César Franck, live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Winner of the 2022 YCA Susan Wadsworth International Auditions and Finalist in the 2023 Rubinstein Piano Competition, Chaeyoung Park has been praised as a passionate pianist who “does not play a single note without thought or feeling” (New York Concert Review). Through Chaeyoung various roles as a recitalist, chamber musician, and concerto soloist, she has performed at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, Bravo! Vail Music Festival, Ravinia’s Bennett Gordon Hall, Symphony Center’s Orchestra Hall, as well as live-streamed concerts presented by the Gilmore Rising Stars series. As winner of the 2019 Hilton Head International Piano Competition, she is the first female Korean pianist to receive First Place in the history of the competition. She subsequently presented her solo recital debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and performed Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. Pianist Anna Betka performs works by Gioacchino Rossini, Ludwig van Beethoven , Richard Wagner ; arranged by Franz Liszt , Sergei Rachmaninoff , and Freddie Mercury; arranged by Sonya Belousova, live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Anna Betka is a dynamic pianist, vocal and opera coach, and one of two Czech diction specialists in North America who is a native speaker of the language. In North America, Dr. Betka has performed in venues such as Toronto’s Roy Thompson Hall, Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater in New York, and the National Sawdust in Brooklyn. Dr. Betka has also performed in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and the UK. Festival appearances include Banff, Icicle Creek, Aspen, and Toronto. Dr. Betka’s work as a Czech diction specialist has taken her to Prague, Pardubice, and Brno in the Czech Republic, where she worked at Prague Castle and studied at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts. At the International Smetana Piano Competition, she was awarded an Honorary Mention for her exceptional interpretation of Bedřich Smetana’s Czech Dances. As an extension of her expertise in this area, she is researching and compiling an anthology of Czech music for both voice and piano by women composers; this initiative has been graciously and generously supported by the Canada Council for the Arts. As a chamber musician, Dr. Betka has premiered and recorded many contemporary works at venues in New York, Indiana, Colorado, and Alberta, and her performances have been broadcast on the nationally syndicated WFMT Radio Network and on WKCR in New York. Her playing is featured on composer Mark Applebaum’s album Speed Dating (Innova Recordings). At the Banff Centre for the Arts, she gave the Canadian premiere of American composer Elliot Carter’s last work, Epigrams. A founding member of Trio Mondial, she was a quarterfinalist with the ensemble at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Over the years, Dr. Betka has had the privilege of collaborating with many living composers, such as Anthony Korf and Kamala Sankaram. In a diverse range of capacities, Ms. Betka has also worked with renowned conductors such as Helmuth Rilling, Joseph Colaneri and John DeMain. As an educator, Dr. Betka served as Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University and Faculty Member at the Suzuki Schools of Westport & Orange, Suzuki on the Island, and Stony Brook University’s Pre-College Division. She held the position of Music Director at St. James Episcopal Church in St. James, NY. Dr. Betka also has a background in singing and holds an Associate of the Royal Conservatory Toronto Diploma in Singing (ARCT). She currently serves on Music Staff at the Glimmerglass Festival, at the Canadian Opera Company as Ensemble Studio Trainer and Repetiteur, and at the Palm Beach Opera as Associate Principal Coach. Violist Sohui Yun and pianist Sunmi Han perform works by Ludwig van Beethoven , Robert Schumann , Paul Hindemith live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Korean violist SoHui Yun is quickly becoming a sought after chamber musician and soloist, performing frequently across the United States, Asia, and Europe. Having been awarded first prize at the 2022 Washington International Competition, she also received the Special Prize at the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition and Grand Prize at the Sungjung Music Competition. Recent season highlights include solo recitals in Washington DC, Chicago, and Seoul and a performance at Staller Center for the Arts, as a winner of the 2023 Stony Brook Concerto Competition. She has previously given solo recitals at Kumho Art Hall, TLI Art Center, Ilshin Hall, Elim Art Center and KNUA Hall in Korea, and has been a featured soloist with the Oakland Symphony, the National Symphony Orchestra of Moldova Tele-Radio and the Guri Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sejong Soloists. As a chamber musician, she has appeared alongside musicians such as Miriam Fried, Tabea Zimmermann, Marcy Rosen, and Steven Isserlis, and currently serves as Faculty Artist at Anchorage Music Festival. She has performed at international festivals such as the Ravinia Steans Music Institute, Music@Menlo, Olympic Music Festival, Lucerne Festival, Kronberg Academy, Perlman Music Program. Sunmi Han, piano (Seoul, South Korea), has appeared as a soloist with the Nord Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kalvory Vary Symphony, the Kharkov Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Roma, among others. She made her European debut in Munich, where she performed Chopin’s Piano Concerto no. 1 in Herkulessaal. She later recorded the same concerto in Italy with the Orchestra di Sinfonica de Roma under the direction of Francesco La Vecchia. In tandem with her solo endeavors, Sunmi has also distinguished herself as a collaborative pianist, making her debut with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra as a guest pianist for the European premiere of Christopher Rouse’s ‘Iscariot,’ conducted by Joshua Weilerstein. Under the guidance of Diane Anderson, Pascal Godart, and Dae Jin Kim, Sunmi earned her Bachelor’s Degree at The Juilliard School, where she studied with Martin Canin and Yoheved Kaplinsky. She continued her studies with Arie Vardi in Tel-Aviv, Israel, and later with Michael Schäfer at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München, Germany. Callisto Quartet , made up of violinists Cameron Daly and Gregory Lewis, violist Eva Kennedy, and cellist Hannah Moses, perform works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Reena Esmail , live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Praised for their “lush intensity and bravado” and the “cohesion and intonation one might expect from an ensemble twice their age” (Third Coast Review), the American-Canadian Callisto Quartet brings together four musicians who share a passion for bringing chamber music to audiences around the world. Since their inception at the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2016, Callisto has garnered top prizes in nearly every major international chamber music competition and has been hailed by audiences across the globe. Grand Prize winners of the 2018 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and Second Prize Winners of the 2019 Banff International String Quartet Competition, the Callisto Quartet has also taken home prizes from the Bordeaux, Melbourne, and Wigmore Hall competitions. Pianist Rieko Tsuchida performs works by J.S. Bach , Maurice Ravel , Sato Matsui , and Isaac Albéniz live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Since making her Carnegie Hall debut in 2011, prize-winning pianist Rieko Tsuchida has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. Ms. Tsuchida made her professional concerto debut in 2011 performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the California Symphony. She has also performed as a soloist with the Ashdod Symphonic Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic, and San Domenico Orchestra. Her many prizes include the SONY USA Foundation Grant in 2016 from the Salon de Virtuosi, YoungArts NFAA Finalist, and 3rd Prize in the IIYM International Piano Competition. She has also been invited to perform at other prestigious festivals and venues such as the Verbier Festival Academy, Salle Gaveau, and more. Ms. Tsuchida currently lives between New York and Paris. In Paris, her ensemble IMAGO is Ensemble-in-Residence at the Fondation des États-Unis and regularly performs and commissions new works by living composers. Ms. Tsuchida also serves as Co-Artistic Director of Classical Music Collection Japan (CMCJ), a project funded by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote the classical music culture of Japan. Cellist Ezra Escobar and pianist Ryan Senger perform works by Nicanor Abelardo and Sergei Rachmaninoff live from the Seventeenth Church of Christ, Scientist, Chicago. Lauded as “vibrant” and “gifted” (Chicago Classical Review), Filipino-American cellist Ezra Escobar maintains a prolific output as a multigenre cellist, composer, and music producer. He made his solo debut at age 16 with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago and was a guest soloist with the Lake Forest Civic Orchestra. Other engagements include appearances with the Young Steinway Concert Series, Chicago Rush Hour Concerts, on Chicago’s WFMT radio station, collaborations with activist music collective Sound Off and a residency with noted jazz clarinetist Ken Peplowski at Birdland Jazz Club in NYC. Ezra is a resident artist of the Fil-Am Music Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting exceptional Filipino classical musicians through scholarship assistance and performance opportunities. As a composer, his works have premiered at Symphony Center, the Evanston Chamber Music Society, and the Heifetz Institute. He is currently at work on his first solo record as a cellist, inspired by 2000s rave culture and dance music. Ryan Senger is a Chicago based pianist who ardently promotes the expansion of today’s classical cannon. Maintaining an active performance schedule as a recitalist and collaborator, recent engagements have seen him perform at the Brevnov Monastery in the Prague Piano Festival; Utrechts Conservatorium in the Netherlands; on the Steinway Piano Series in Tampa, Florida; and as a chamber music collaborator with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. In 2022, Senger won the U.S. OSAKA International Music Competition for piano. Additional awards and honors have included receiving the Steinway Young Artist Prize, given at the 2019 Brancaleoni International Music Festival, as well receiving first prizes at the 2021 University of South Florida Piano Competition and the 2016 Kleinman Piano Competition.
