With the current fear and panic going on in our nation and the world over the coronavirus, there is hope and encouragement that God is still in control. One of my favorite generals of all time, Thomas Jackson, better known as Stonewall Jackson, had a famous quote and outlook on danger and being in the middle of a situation where his life was in real danger. If you ask how should Christians face difficult times such as this where there is lies danger to our physical well being? Should we go out and make mad dashes to Walmart and stock up everything in sight? What is our outlook in life and where is our hope? Our hope has always been, is now, and always will be in our blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ - the rock of our salvation. When Jesus and the disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee and the storm came and the disciples were panicking fearing that the boat was going to sink, Jesus was sound asleep in the boat without one bit of worry. Why? Jesus knew God had a mission for Him - knew that they would not be overcome by them. The disciples did not have faith that God would get them through at the time and Jesus rebuked them after the disciples woke him up screaming we are gonna die for their lack of faith. I pray this encourages those who will listen to this episode and find that we can be like Stonewall Jackson and follow God's guidance and have the attitude of faith that even though everyone around us may be losing their heads and panicking, we can rest just as much as if the waters were calm as glass.
