Roddy is a Registered Architect in the province of Alberta and also a non-practicing Lawyer. After a glorious career at Stantec, in 2017 Roddy founded Holo-Blok, a company that is dedicated to fix the broken practices in Architecture and is leveraging Technology massively in doing so. Arash is the perfect combination of academic awareness and industry exposure and holds a Ph.D. in construction engineering and management technologies and co-founded the Building Innovation Research Centre at the University of Toronto. He is an entrepreneur and innovator who co-founded AECO Innovation Lab in pursuit of engaging the immense talent in our academia to solve the problems of the #aecindustry. Through various initiatives like #OneOntario, he is to lead the digital transformation of #AEC industries and governments through collaborative R&D projects, innovative products, and expert consulting. Brandon Searle has background in Civil Engineering and Technology Management and Entrepreneurship. He has also worked with Opus International Consultants that later became WSP as asset management consultant. While with WSP, he worked toward an M.Eng. focusing on infrastructure management and completed a broad collection of courses in economics, project management, business, finance, and engineering. With all this amazing education and experience behind him, he was given opportunity to lead UNB’s OCRC as Innovation Director. In this role he focuses on operations and business development by bringing industry partners and problems to researchers in academia together to help create innovative solutions for the construction sector. Leslie Wright is someone who has a firsthand experience and has actively participated in digital transformation in AEC. He has witnessed the change from paper to data rich models He has been an Architectural practitioner working on variety of project for several years. Past 5 years he has worked with City of Windsor’s building department as a plan’s examiner and now Digital Transformation Specialist. In this role he is responsible for overseeing the building department’s Technology adoption process. He is also helping building department establish policies that can facilitate the city to work with Development Service's to improve permitting process. Our today’s discussion will revolve around BIM adoption in our Municipalities and what can be done to expedite the process.…

Alena’s career path has not been straightforward. Her focus in optimization motivated her to pursue Construction Management training shortly after she received Master’s degree in Architecture. Alena entered Canadian construction industry as a pursuits coordinator but due to her interest in technology and optimization, she shifted to BIM path and had worked in various Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) roles for over 7 years most of which she spent on sites working on healthcare, transportation, wastewater and pharmaceutical projects. These days Alena’s job is to make sure that everyone at Ellisdon who needs VDC tools gets them and knows how to make the best use of them. As a past Board Director at The Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) and a co-chair of Construction management Think Tank at Canada BIM Council (CanBIM), Alena is an advocate of women in technology and construction.…

Rick has over 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur in delivering software and web-based information services. Rick started in the late 1980’s developing a business for an environmental law publishing company that had a side interest in construction lead publishing. Next, he turned his attention to the construction industry and launched ConFax Publishing, the first information service to distribute construction sales leads electronically. After Southam Inc. purchased ConFax in 1995, Rick and his partners launched Ingenium Technologies that was focused on software development of information technologies for the construction industry. As Co-Founder and CTO of Ingenium, Rick developed the first successful web-based software as a service (SaaS) application for sales management in the construction industry. This service was acquired by McGraw-Hill and became the industry standard for construction lead management. Following these successes, from 2011, Rick invested this experience in efforts that led to founding BuiltSpace. Rick is both the CTO and President of our company, leading both business and technology strategy for us.…
