1 Ep 110: Jesus Never Told Us to Stay Silent (With Mark and Amber Archer of Fearless Features) 49:28
Today's world would like you to believe that Christians are not meant to be involved in any issue deemed political. In fact, they would like you to believe Christ's followers should not have a voice standing against anything immoral either. However, neither of these beliefs in founded on what Christ exampled. And, as followers of Him, we are called to stand against moral devolution in all spheres of influence in our society. Our guests today aim to do just that. Mark and Amber Archer are the creators of Fearless Features, a film company who boldly faces current issues in our culture and reveals the truth behind the facade. In this episode's conversation, Mark and Amber share their journey of how they came to make honest, truth-filled films, how they choose the topics they tackle, and what God has shown them in the process. Get ready to be encouraged to do what you can to help engage culture and take a strong stance against the lies trying to take the lives of our children. Have you ever wondered what submitting to God actually looks like? In a world that seems to constantly be moving the "goal posts" of the standard of following Jesus, it's easy to lose sight of what Christ examples for us and directs us to do. In this episode, you will hear a simple "call to action" for how to truly submit your life to Christ. In addition, we will reflect on the danger of allowing our culture to dictate Christ's call and standard. (i.e. allowing our faith to be judged by the standards of culture, rather than the standards of culture being judged by the truth of the Gospel). Get ready to enjoy honesty, the truth of God's word, and encouragement. If you've ever suffered - and I mean really BIG pain - you know the feeling of emotional waves crashing over your soul. Perhaps you've wished to just make it all end. Or cried out to God and wondered where He is. Darci J. Steiner knows suffering. And she also knows God. But, where is God in the MIDDLE of the suffering? Today we talk with Darci about suffering, God's unending love, God's goodness, and a generation of kids who need to know how to find God in the midst of suffering. Once you're done, you'll want to read Darci's book (or perhaps plan a meeting with her!). Find her book and all information on her site: darcijsteiner.com More about Darci: Darci J. Steiner is an author, inspirational speaker, and nutritionist. She has served in full-time ministry and assisted with church plants in Denver and Los Angeles. In 2001, Darci nearly lost her life after a debilitating fall down the stairs in her home. During her recovery, she earned her Master of Science degree in Holistic Nutrition and implemented natural remedies into her diet that helped save her life. When Darci became disabled a second time after a foot injury in 2018, she wrote her award-winning debut book, Beauty Beyond the Thorns: Discovering Gifts in Suffering. Darci speaks about how God uses suffering in our lives to bring about spiritual healing. She and her husband enjoy two adult daughters, a son-in law, and a baby granddaughter. They live in the Denver area. For more content (or to put a face to a voice), check out our YouTube channel!…
Do you ever treat yourself like you aren't WORTHY of the sacrifice it takes to be healthy? (Not super thin or "a super model"... just, healthy?) Most of us don't if we're honest. In fact, many of us treat our bodies like they are here to carry our head around, or lug kids to soccer, or make dinner. But what if we realize we are meant to treat our body with love? Sacrificial, unconditional love? Well, that, my friends, would be a game changer. One full of grace and one that might just keep us motivated. Our guest today, nutrition and health trainer, Amy Connell, has been teaching women to do just that. To treat your body as if it's actually worthy. ( She even wrote a book to share her passion with us!) And, in today's episode, we talk about that very thing (and so much more!) As Amy puts it, "Your eating, movement and body don't have to be perfect...you just need to be able to do what you're called to do". Treating your body rightly helps you complete your calling. Simmer on that... then push play and hear what Amy shares about what she has learned in her journey of struggling to accept health - not performance, not the world's "ideal". True God-centered health. To find out more about Amy or get her book, visit: https://www.gracedhealth.com For more content (or to put a face to a voice), check out our YouTube channel!…
Who doesn't want to end conflicts quickly and as painlessly as possible? Well, with the help of people like Jerry Fu, you can do just that. Jerry Fu is a conflict resolution and leadership coach who is, quite frankly, a needed part of the body of Christ. He is certified in leadership coaching through the International Coaching Federation, Talent Optimization through Predictive Index, and Emotional Intelligence. He is also a pharmacist(!) Trust me, you'll enjoy Jerry's honest, straight-forward, kind manner as well as the skills he lays down in this episode. And, you'll probably want more of Jerry's wisdom. Luckily, Jerry offers coaching to individuals and teams. Find him at: https://www.adaptingleaders.com More about Jerry: I was born in the United States, growing up in a Taiwanese family. I encountered conflicts at work, in culture, and within myself. I didn’t know how to handle any of it, and I didn’t know where to look for help. Worse, I lost a job because I continually avoided conflict with an upset boss. But getting fired was the wake-up call I needed. I had to adapt myself and improve as a leader, which meant engaging the conflict I disliked so much. Ironically, my ongoing struggle with conflict became a fascination. Now, I help others take on the same challenges. For more content (or to put a face to a voice), check out our YouTube channel!…

We've all heard of John the Baptist. Many of us see him as an eccentric accent in the story of Jesus and His disciples. But, a large amount of theologians consider John the Baptist as the MOST important figure in the New Testament second only to Jesus. So, why do so many of us sort of skip over his importance? Probably because we (including myself before this deeper dive into his life) lack the understanding of history and exactly what he did as the last Old Testament prophet. But John's life is a miracle from the word "Angel". He is set apart, he is vocal, he is a truth-teller unlike any other. And we have so, so, SOOOO much to learn from him which is relevant to the modern church today. In addition... John is the first trumpeter of Christ. From the womb he knows Christ's very presence. Not to be ignored, the baby-become-God-warrior is a treasure and distinctly inserts himself into the Christmas story and beyond. So, join us on this episode for a revelation or reminder of John's life, bravery, and meaningful actions so many of us can draw inspiration from today. In addition, for all you arty-types, stay tuned for a spoken word poem at the end. :) Additional resources and links: Link to the SCF YouTube channel The Preacher John the Baptist (1 of 2) Video series about the Art of John the Baptist by the National Gallery in London For more content (or to put a face to a voice), check out our YouTube channel!…

Have you ever wondered what it means to actually rest? The Bible talks a lot about work, but it also tackles the idea of resting. So, what is rest exactly? And why is it so important the Bible actually talks about it? And are we even DOING it right? Today, Scott LaPierre - father of nine (!), author, pastor, writer - talks about what it means to rest as defined through the framework of the Bible. Something many of us rarely think about in depth. Settle in... it's a great reminder of why God tells us to rest and how it can add to the joy of living for Him. Get ready to hear a kind voice of wisdom, love, and honesty. Danielle Bernock is an author, coach, and survivor of childhood trauma. In her own words: I’m on a mission to open the eyes of ONE MILLION emotional trauma survivors to their value and belovedness through the power of the love of God. Through my process of healing from childhood trauma and childhood emotional neglect I learned the truth about trauma. Trauma is personal. Trauma is a thief. Trauma is a beast. Trauma is an involuntary, invisible wound. I am passionate about this! Surviving isn’t enough. You deserve to THRIVE and RECLAIM what rightfully belongs to you in the name of Jesus. The amazing Leanna Crawford stops by to talk to us about her life, the Christian Music industry, inspiration, honesty with God, reading through the (entire) Bible, and love. If you don't yet know who Leanna is, get ready to become a fan... seriously. This woman is wonderful, honest, deep, and loves Jesus fiercely. Learn more about here at: http://leannacrawford.com/ Check out her music: https://youtu.be/70JD5YTemJc https://youtu.be/vrWdkziEuyA Listen to Mean Girls with Jekalyn Carr Here's more about Leanna: For the past two and half years, the singer-songwriter from northwestern Washington, Leanna Crawford, has been writing, touring and singing with some of the biggest names in the Christian music industry. She’s gained more experience than many artists do in a decade, and while her music certainly displays the vocal and songwriting talent of a rising star in CCM, her grounded and honest lyrics make her feel more friend and confidante than star, more approachable than untouchable. “I hope [listeners] feel that I care about them even if I don’t know them,” says Crawford, “that they would feel loved and encouraged.” Her sophomore self-titled EP, released spring of 2020, certainly accomplishes this. With songs that speak honestly about doubt and insecurity as well as the hope Christ offers in our darkest moments, Crawford’s listeners will find solace in her kind and wise words, while tapping their feet along to contagious, pop-inspired beats.
