1 Amy Schumer & Brianne Howey on the Importance of Female Friendships, Navigating Hollywood's Double Standards, Sharing Their Birth Stories, and MORE 50:05
This week, in what might be the funniest episode yet, Molly and Emese are joined by co-stars Amy Schumer and Brianne Howey. They get candid about motherhood, career evolution, and their new film, Kinda Pregnant —which unexpectedly led to Amy’s latest health discovery. Amy opens up about how public criticism led her to uncover her Cushing syndrome diagnosis, what it’s like to navigate comedy and Hollywood as a mom, and the importance of sharing birth stories without shame. Brianne shares how becoming a mother has shifted her perspective on work, how Ginny & Georgia ’s Georgia Miller compares to real-life parenting, and the power of female friendships in the industry. We also go behind the scenes of their new Netflix film, Kinda Pregnant —how Molly first got the script, why Amy and Brianne were drawn to the project, and what it means for women today. Plus, they reflect on their early career struggles, the moment they knew they “made it,” and how motherhood has reshaped their ambitions. From career highs to personal challenges, this episode is raw, funny, and packed with insights. Rapp Report episode 274 The salient point of this podcast episode revolves around the pervasive influence of empty philosophies and human traditions that captivate individuals, leading them away from the truth of Christ. We delve into the fascinating observation that individuals within various belief systems, including those who critique others, often fail to recognize similar fallacies within their own beliefs. This episode emphasizes the need for discernment in a world rife with deception and the importance of grounding ourselves in biblical truth to combat the misleading narratives prevalent in society. Through discussions on the influence of media and popular culture, we illustrate how these forces can subtly sway individuals' perceptions and beliefs. Ultimately, we seek to equip listeners with the tools necessary to navigate these challenges and uphold the integrity of the gospel amidst a sea of competing ideologies. The podcast episode delves into the intricacies of religious belief systems, particularly exploring the notion of biases inherent in various faiths. The discussion highlights the paradox wherein individuals are often quick to identify fallacies in religions other than their own, a phenomenon that can be attributed to confirmation bias. The speakers engage in a thorough examination of how upbringing influences one's perspective on religion, with particular emphasis on the tendency to overlook the flaws within one's own beliefs while being acutely aware of the inconsistencies in others. This introspection leads to a broader conversation about the nature of apologetics and the importance of critically analyzing one's faith against the backdrop of differing worldviews. The episode ultimately seeks to grapple with the complexities of belief, prompting listeners to reflect on their own biases and the implications of their faith in a diverse world. Takeaways: The podcast emphasizes the ease with which individuals can identify fallacies in religions other than their own, highlighting the tendency of believers to overlook flaws in their own faith. A key point discussed is the phenomenon of confirmation bias, where individuals tend to accept evidence that supports their beliefs while dismissing opposing viewpoints. The speakers engage in a dialogue about the nature of religious belief, suggesting that many individuals fail to critically analyze their own convictions compared to those of others. The episode stresses the importance of apologetics in addressing challenging questions about faith, encouraging listeners to engage deeply with their beliefs and the beliefs of others. Listeners are reminded that the pursuit of truth requires a willingness to confront uncomfortable realities about one's own beliefs and those of others. The discussion touches on the role of community and the church in providing support and guidance, underscoring the necessity of sound doctrine in combating worldly philosophies. The discussion centers on the intricate and compassionate process of church discipline, emphasizing its necessity for spiritual growth and accountability within the Christian community. We elucidate that church discipline is not a mere procedural formality but rather a protracted journey characterized by love and a sincere desire for the individual to repent and flourish in their faith. Initially, we advocate for private correction among peers, wherein one lovingly confronts a fellow believer regarding their transgressions, and if they respond positively, reconciliation is achieved. However, should the individual remain obstinate and unrepentant, the process necessitates the involvement of additional witnesses to plead for their return to righteousness. Ultimately, in cases of persistent rebellion against God, we must confront the difficult reality of excommunication, a measure taken not lightly, but as a final recourse to uphold the integrity of the church and the sanctity of the faith. Takeaways: The process of church discipline is intricate and demands a considerable investment of time. It is essential to approach church discipline with compassion, aiming for the individual's spiritual growth. Correction should begin with a private conversation, emphasizing love and the desire for repentance. When initial efforts fail, it is appropriate to involve others to witness and support the correction process. Excommunication is a last resort that signifies a serious breach in one's adherence to Christian principles. Throughout the discipline process, the intent remains focused on restoration rather than punishment or condemnation.…

Rapp Report episode 331 Head coverings have emerged as a hot topic in recent discussions, as highlighted by Dale Partridge, who notes that this issue has not really been a point of contention for centuries but is now gaining traction. The conversation pivots around Dale Partridge's book, "A Cover for Glory," which argues that head coverings were once a universal practice among women in the church and have become obscured in modern times, particularly due to the influence of feminism. Andrew Rappaport engages in a spirited dialogue with Partridge, exploring the theological implications and historical contexts of head coverings, particularly in light of 1 Corinthians 11. They delve into the nuances of authority, gender roles, and the significance of submission in the Christian faith, suggesting that the resurgence of interest in head coverings may reflect a deeper craving for biblical order and masculinity in a culture increasingly at odds with traditional values. Ultimately, the episode serves as a platform for listeners to reconsider their understanding of head coverings and the broader implications for church life and gender dynamics today. Takeaways: Head coverings have emerged as a controversial topic in contemporary Christian discourse, particularly as cultural dynamics shift and traditional practices are reexamined. Dale Partridge's book, ' A Cover for Glory ', argues that the historical practice of women wearing head coverings has roots that span across many centuries and cultures. The discussion around head coverings is not merely about physical adornment but is deeply intertwined with theological concepts of authority and gender roles in the church. There's a noticeable trend among younger Christians moving towards traditionalism, including the practice of head coverings, as a response to modern feminism and cultural shifts in gender perception. Teachers of Spiritual Formation inform Christians that implementing certain disciplines will help know God, experience Him, and hear His voice. They teach that these practices will help us grow spiritually because we become more intimate with God through them; that by them we "restore" our relationship with God. But is this all true? Does Scripture teach that we need these disciplines to become intimate with God and do we grow spiritually by practicing them? And what might happen to a woman's faith in Christ and His word if she decides to trust that these will bring her to into a deeper relationship with God and "enjoy Jesus"? May this episode expose the false teaching entering the church and bring glory to God. The central theme of our discussion revolves around the perception that Christians possess a monopoly on salvation. We delve into this notion by exploring the implications of such a belief and whether it fosters an exclusionary mindset. Through our dialogue, we reflect on the essence of grace in Christianity, contrasting it with the works-based approaches prevalent in other religions. Furthermore, we consider the transformative power of faith, not merely as a set of beliefs but as a profound relational dynamic with a loving God. Ultimately, we aim to illuminate the inclusivity of salvation, emphasizing that it is a gift extended to all, irrespective of their backgrounds or beliefs, while encouraging a deeper understanding of the grace that underpins our faith. Takeaways: The concept of Christian monopoly on salvation is explored, emphasizing grace over works. Salvation in Christianity is presented as a gift, distinct from other religions' requirements. The discussion highlights the significance of Jesus' resurrection as a cornerstone of faith. Faith is described as leaning fully on God, relinquishing personal control over life. The conversation stresses compassion and understanding towards those with differing beliefs. The importance of personal experiences and transformations in deepening one’s faith is emphasized.…

This episode is part 7 in a series going through the story of the Book of Mormon. 2 Nephi chapters 28-29 continue Nephi's prophecies. These two chapters of the Book of Mormon lash out at what it deems false churches who oppress people and that the clergy teach their own wisdom rather than what comes from the Holy Ghost. While there can be much truth to what is said there, the Book of Mormon's antidote leaves much to be desired. 2 Nephi chapter 29 especially mocks later Gentile Christians who claim the Bible is the final Word of God. As God argues to us, according to the Book of Mormon, that we should expect lots more Scripture to come, we can test the Book of Mormon's claims according to the tests in the Bible. The salient point of this podcast episode revolves around the multifaceted nature of evangelism, particularly the ongoing discourse about the methods and qualifications associated with sharing the Christian gospel. We, the hosts, engage in a rigorous discussion that explores whether evangelism necessitates a confrontational approach, or if it can encompass a more charitable and lifestyle-oriented methodology. Throughout our conversation, we emphasize the imperative of articulating the core message of the gospel, asserting that mere good deeds, while commendable, do not substitute for a clear presentation of faith in Christ. As we navigate various perspectives, we consider the role of formal qualifications in evangelism, questioning if an official church office is necessary or if all believers are equally called to share their faith. Our dialogue ultimately calls for a collaborative effort within the Christian community to effectively communicate the gospel while fostering a spirit of love and accountability. Takeaways: The podcast emphasizes the necessity of evangelism as a critical aspect of Christian practice, highlighting the importance of both action and verbal communication in sharing the gospel effectively. Participants assert that while good works and charitable actions are foundational, they must be accompanied by clear verbal communication of the gospel message to achieve true evangelism. Diverse methods of evangelism are explored, with discussions around their effectiveness, as well as the importance of follow-up and discipleship in the process of leading others to faith. The definition of the gospel is clarified, stressing the importance of recognizing sin, the need for repentance, and the sufficiency of Christ's atoning sacrifice for salvation.…
