In this episode of The Staffa Corner Podcast, I talk with Hollywood stuntman Pete Klein. Appearing in shows like Daredevil, The Blacklist, Limitless, and films like John Wick and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Pete’s no stranger to the rough and tumble world of being a stuntman.

The term stuntman is usually associated with big-budget action films full of car crashes and explosions but I knew there was more to it. This lead me to one of my first questions. “What is a stunt?” His answers to this and other questions really changed how I viewed the industry.

For example, I assumed those in his line of work were adrenaline junkies; you know, people who spend their weekends partaking in thrill-seeking activities like skydiving or rock climbing. To my surprise, Pete’s journey into stunt work stems from his background, which we discuss.

I was riveted listening to Pete break down his work. As a fan of shows like Limitless and Person of Interest, I love learning behind the scenes details. While I knew he was a stuntman on Netflix’s Daredevil, I didn’t realize he was involved in perhaps the most iconic scene of season one.

Maybe it’s my “Minnesota Nice” mentality but I enjoy hearing stories of how celebrities treat those around them. I’ve always assumed from watching interviews Ryan Eggold was a great guy but hearing Pete talking about their working relationship over several seasons as his stunt double on The Blacklist is refreshing to hear.

Despite his tough-guy persona on screen I had a wonderful time talking to Pete. We’ve both faced setbacks in our careers due to injury and talking to him served as a reminder that even though life throws things at you, it’s important to keep looking forward.

One of the things I enjoy about branching out into podcasting is the chance to talk to the lifeblood of the entertainment industry. Sure, actors and actresses get most of the accolades but where would television and film be without location scouts, stuntmen, prop masters, and writers? Hearing their stories is part of why The Staffa Corner Podcast was created. I hope you enjoy my conversation with Pete as much as I did.
