043: How to Be A Better Ally for People with Disabilities // Carden Wyckoff (Freewheelin With Carden)
Manage episode 308193363 series 3011777
Carden Wyckoff is one fascinating individual. She is constantly doing work, advocacy and education for her community, hosting her very own podcast, working at her full time job, all while rolling around at 6mp as a wheel chair warrior. I was so honoured when Carden agreed to be on my podcast as I have been following her podcast Freewheeling with Carden for quite some time now. On her podcast, Carden interviews guests with both visible and non visible disabilities to share their story and shed light onto disability awareness.
In this episode Carden sat down with me to help educate me further on the lives of those with disabilities.
Through our conversation Carden and I chatted about:
- her personal journey with FSHD (facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy) and the progression it has had throughout her life
- “inspiration porn” & removing the stigma around those with disabilities
- accessible housing / what parts of her apartment are different as she is a wheelchair user
- how to navigate the unknowns of life
- how our community can better support those with disabilities
- common challenges those with disabilities face
And more!
