I live on the Eastern continental divide. The picture to the right is of a sculpture in a local park showing two water flows intertwined with one flowing to the Atlantic Ocean and the other to the Gulf of Mexico. The flow towards the Gulf would be back towards my house. The sculpture got me thinking about how, when I get to the top of the hill, if I turn one way I move towards the ocean and if I head the other way, I head back home. Day Seventeen: Pacific Ocean

I was rather taken aback by the reaction to my demo of “Pacific Ocean”. I mean, I know people were being rather nice, but it felt good to have such positive feedback. I started off the RPM with a couple of songs I felt pretty good about and a collection of throwaways and it’s been turning on me. As the parts gel, the songs are really coming together and getting stronger. I wasn’t expecting that this year. The song is pretty silly. It’s based on a cartoon I saw on Facebook. I wrote some silly lyrics, Clarke added some fun keys, and I dug in on harmony vocals. Oh, and I finally played a bass part I sort of like. That only took 12 years.
