In this episode of Missed Connections, Beth presents a story to Lizzy that has a hippie and a farm boy, a loss of vision, and an awakening to how this relationship revolves around one individual. It’s a missed connection.
Lizzy and Beth bring in Rick Jackson, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California, to discuss how we go about creating new forms of communication and behavior change in our relationships. Rick has a full practice working with couples dealing with relational distress. He is certified as a Restoration Therapist and as a Discernment Counselor, as well as having extensive training in Encounter-Centered Couple’s Therapy and Emotion-Focused Couple’s Therapy.
We knew Rick would offer us all insights on ways we can be mindful in our approach to communicating and connecting with our partners when things get stagnant and reactive. Our story and discussion focus on a long-term relationship, but you can apply these insights to any form of a relationship.
