Today you'll meet Dr. Jill Manning who shares five key markers of emotional immaturity that help explain why we have affairs and develop addictions. An expert in her own right but compassionate to the wounds of both the betrayed and the unfaithful, Dr. Manning helps explain what emotional immaturity looks like in the unfaithful and how they can take practical steps to heal themselves and quite possibly, their relationship. While 'emotional immaturity' can sound like criticism or confrontational in nature, the fact is we need to understand why we unfaithful continue to jeopardize our lives, our families and our futures. A compassionate and insightful conversation is needed if both parties are going to be able to get to the root of the acting out and today Dr. Manning provides palatable wisdom for both parties to find new life again. Dr. Manning's diverse career has afforded her opportunities to be published in leading research journals; to testify before the U.S. Senate about the harms of pornography; to be featured in popular podcasts, magazines, TV shows, and documentaries; and to work clinically with resilient men, women, and youth who are striving to overcome some of life’s darkest challenges. Dr. Manning is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist (CCPS), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH) who specializes in working with individuals impacted by sexual betrayal in their primary relationship. Additionally, Dr. Manning is an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist who has completed EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training and is working toward full certification in this trauma treatment modality.
