×According to the Justice Department, a Florida doctor is facing several charges for sexually abusing kids he met on social internet and telling them to "cut, choke, and hang themselves" while he watched on video chat. Stephen Leedy, 59, of St. Petersburg, is suspected of leading at least one of his young victims to her demise. The 13-year-old victim was discovered "hanging from the shower head with a dog leash around her neck." On December 26, an indictment outlining the allegations against him was handed down. The charges included two counts of coercing or persuading a minor to engage in sexual behavior and three counts of producing material pertaining to child sexual abuse. Leedy faces a possible sentence of life in prison if found guilty. In a press release, DOJ officials said, “According to the indictment and court documents, Leedy, a palliative care doctor in the Tampa Bay area, utilized the username ‘maximumuncle#9112’ to sexually exploit and victimize approximately ten minors online. In online conversations and video chats, Leedy instructed the minors to produce sexually explicit images of themselves and directed them to cut, choke, and hang themselves. In November 2021, Minor Victim 1 was discovered deceased, having hanged herself in front of her phone in a manner consistent with instructions Leedy had previously provided her.” Prosecutors described the alarming charges against Leedy in a pretrial application for detention filed on December 17. They claimed that he posed "an extreme danger to minors in society and his release from custody would be in direct conflict with maintaining community safety." They explained how the evidence against him "is extremely strong" and demonstrated his purported preoccupation with abusing children sexually and causing them harm. Prosecutors stated, “Through social media conversations and investigative means, law enforcement confirmed Leedy’s ownership over the account used to encourage minors to engage in sadistic and sexual behavior. Minor victims have been interviewed, identified themselves within conversations, and confirmed the horrific acts Leedy instructed them to do. Leedy very clearly engaged in this predatory behavior with approximately ten minor victims across the country.” Prosecutors claim that Leedy used video chats and messages to coach a number of females, giving them instructions on how to injure themselves sexually and with household objects. A 13-year-old girl was told to "cut her breasts with a blade" and then strangle herself. According to the prosecution, another was instructed to carry out "daily hangings." “Can ur life be full with cutting your boobs and tmmy for daddy, not eating and puking for daddy,” Leedy allegedly wrote in a message to the 13-year-old. “Go get the belt so we can start choking u,” he allegedly said, before asking: “Have u ever put the end of the belt over the top of your door, and then close the door?” Although Leedy was detained in October by investigators from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and FBI Tampa Office, with help from the St. Petersburg Police Department, FBI Atlanta Office, and the Holly Springs Police Department, he wasn't formally charged until last week. In their motion for detention, prosecutors stated, “The nature and circumstances of the offenses charged are extremely serious. Leedy directed the three minor victims named in the indictment, along with approximately seven additional minor victims, to produce child pornography while on video calls with him to satisfy his own sexual deviant interest in children. The conversations continually revolved around his control over the minor victim, commenting on how ‘obedient’ they are and asking at least one minor victim to refer to him as ‘my Lord.'” He has been practicing medicine in the state since January 1991, according to records from the Florida Department of Health, and he specializes in hospice and palliative care, according to local NBC affiliate WFLA. The accused victims had no idea who he was or what his occupation was. “He hid behind the cloak of anonymity by either lying about his identity or using a black screen while engaging in video calls with the minor victims. Everything that Leedy instructed these minor victims to do was either physically or mentally detrimental to the minor victims. He had absolutely no disregard for their safety and took advantage of children more than half his age to gratify himself,” prosecutors said. His lawyers stated that their client plans to plead not guilty. “Our client, Stephen Leedy, adamantly denies the charges that have been filed against him in federal court,” attorneys Bjorn Brunvand and Lucas Fleming told the outlet. “It is particularly important in moments like this when someone is being accused of very troubling allegations, that we afford him the presumption of innocence,” they added. “We will be entering a not guilty plea at the earliest opportunity and look forward to vigorously defending Dr. Leedy in court.” Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Wendy Williams didn’t hold back during a rare interview on The Breakfast Club , where she addressed Sean “Diddy” Combs’ mounting legal troubles, her personal experiences with the music mogul, and her ongoing fight for independence amid health challenges. Host Charlamagne tha God revisited Williams’ controversial departure from Hot 97 in 1998, suggesting that Diddy played a role in her firing. Williams confirmed the speculation, stating, “Diddy will go to prison for life, people.” “You don’t know things I knew about Diddy back in the day,” she continued. “And you want to know what? It’s about time, people, it is about time. Diddy done.” Williams did not elaborate further on what she claimed to know about Combs, but her comments added to the growing discourse surrounding the embattled music mogul. Combs, who was arrested in September on sex-trafficking charges, has pleaded not guilty and is currently in jail awaiting trial, which is set to begin May 5. In addition to the criminal charges, Combs faces dozens of lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct, including a new claim that he drugged and raped a 16-year-old girl in 2000. In response to the allegations, Combs’ legal team has denied any wrongdoing. “No amount of lawsuits against our client will change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted, or sex-trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor,” his lawyers said in a statement to Rolling Stone . Williams’ history with Combs dates back decades. In her 2004 book The Wendy Williams Experience , she alleged that Combs tried to sabotage her career during her tenure at Hot 97. Speaking to New York magazine in 2005, Williams said it was her “belief” that Combs played a role in her dismissal, referencing rumors she had spread about his sexuality. Following Combs’ recent arrest, Williams claimed vindication. “Multiple people told me I called it,” she told the Daily Mail in November. She also criticized footage from 2016 that appeared to show Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. “But now you have to think, how many more times? How many people? How many more women? It’s just so horrible,” she said. During the interview, Williams also opened up about her own struggles. Her TV show was canceled in 2022 following a series of health-related absences. She has since been placed under guardianship and was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. However, Williams remains defiant, telling The Breakfast Club , “I feel like I’m in prison. I’m not cognitively impaired.” Her remarks sparked both support and controversy, adding another chapter to the ongoing saga of two public figures navigating turmoil. #WendyWilliams #SeanCombs #Diddy #LegalTroubles #Hot97 #EntertainmentNews #CelebrityControversy Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Lawyers for Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students, have filed a motion to partially lift the "veil of secrecy" surrounding the high-profile case. The defense team aims to make public records related to DNA evidence and investigative genetic genealogy techniques used by law enforcement. “This matter is of utmost importance to Mr. Kohberger’s right to a public hearing,” attorney Elisa Massoth wrote in a court filing Thursday. "Holding the hearing in open court will not prejudice the parties, and this should be held in open court." Kohberger, who was a criminology Ph.D. student at Washington State University, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary. Prosecutors allege that on November 13, 2022, he broke into an off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho, and fatally stabbed Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21. Following a six-week investigation, Kohberger was arrested on December 30, 2022, at his family’s home in Pennsylvania. The case garnered national and international attention, with significant public interest in the methods used to identify him as a suspect. Central to the defense’s motion is the controversial use of investigative genetic genealogy, which law enforcement employed to link Kohberger to the crime. This method involves building a "family tree" using publicly available DNA databases to identify potential suspects. Prosecutors allege that Kohberger’s DNA, found on a knife sheath at the crime scene, matched a cheek swab collected after his arrest. Kohberger’s legal team contests the validity of the genetic genealogy process, calling it unconstitutional and claiming that the DNA evidence was "illegally gathered." They are requesting that the court suppress this evidence, arguing it should not be presented to the jury in the death penalty trial set for August. Massoth emphasized the importance of transparency in the case, stating, “Due to national and international attention to this case, and in the interest of protecting Mr. Kohberger’s right to a fair trial, many pleadings in this case have been sealed.” She added that both Kohberger and the public have a “right to know how genetic information was used in this case.” Two critical hearings are scheduled in the coming days. On January 23, a pretrial hearing will address unresolved evidentiary issues, including the DNA dispute. Before that, a closed-door session will determine whether the request to disclose genetic genealogy materials will proceed. “In addition to Mr. Kohberger’s right to a public trial, the public has a First Amendment right to know what goes on in its courts,” Massoth stated in the filing. Prosecutors argue that the genetic genealogy process provided a significant lead in identifying Kohberger and connecting him to the crime scene. They assert that the DNA evidence, a "statistical match," is a key component of their case. As the legal battle over the admissibility and transparency of this evidence continues, the court’s decision could have far-reaching implications for the trial and for the use of genetic genealogy in criminal investigations. #IdahoMurders #BryanKohberger #DNAEvidence #TrueCrime #CollegeMurders #GeneticGenealogy #FairTrial Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? What happens when one man’s unchecked ego collides with a justice system teetering on his every whim? The allegations surrounding Michael Proctor, a now-sidelined investigator with a questionable legacy, might hold the answer. From alleged case tampering to creating ripple effects of mistrust and appeals, Proctor's involvement in high-profile cases like Karen Read, Sandra Birchmore, and others raises glaring questions about the integrity of justice itself. Could his alleged habit of "playing God" with evidence and investigations be a symptom of unchecked power, or was he just a man cutting corners in pursuit of what he thought was justice? This podcast episode dives into the shocking story of the Franke family, known for their "8 Passengers" YouTube channel. Based on Shari Franke's memoir, we explore the family's seemingly normal beginnings, the pressures of becoming internet personalities, and the dark turn Ruby Franke's parenting took under the influence of Jodi Hildebrandt. We discuss the allegations of abuse and neglect, the resulting family estrangement, and the eventual arrests of Ruby and Jodi. This is a cautionary tale about the dark side of internet fame, unchecked authority, and the importance of speaking out against injustice. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Did Karen Read’s alleged involvement in the case hinge on a conspiracy too wild to believe—or just wild enough? In this episode, defense attorney Bob Motta pulls no punches as he breaks down the complexities of the case. From the defense's bold attempt to paint a narrative filled with smoke and mirrors to the state's theory that seems equally shaky, it's a battle of plausible explanations versus improbable leaps. Was this a tragic accident involving ice, alcohol, and bad luck, or is there something more sinister lurking in the shadows? The defense has convinced a crowd of skeptics, but will it be enough for 12 jurors? And let’s be real—if you were drunk, in the dark, and there was a fire hydrant nearby, would you notice much of anything at all? #TrueCrime #KarenRead #LegalAnalysis #DefenseDiaries #HiddenKillers #BobMotta #MysteriousDeaths Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE?
