Shona Eichorn, CEO of the Northern Inland Academy of Sport in New South Wales, Australia talks about her experience working in sports and education, and how she sees the differences between the sports systems in Australia and the United States. She explains that in Australia, there is a strong focus on grassroots development, and the system is based on volunteerism. On the other hand, in the United States, there is a more linear approach to developing athletes, with a clear pathway from school to college to professional. She also mentions that there are many similarities and differences between the two countries, and that she is working with other CEOs to learn about best practices in sports management and how to provide greater opportunities for talented athletes.
