Kia ora, Talofa lava, Ma’lelei, Bula, Aloha and Welcome to Season 11 Episode 15 of Breakfast Bites, by TEIVOVOdigital.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on Friday morning 18 October 2024.
Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian, in the middle of the Blue continent, where it is exactly the same as yesterday – mostly cloudy and 22 degrees Celsius at 5am this morning with sunrise at 5.35am.
In Rugby League: Our tip for the Pacific Championship rugby league Test between Big Mal Meninga’s Australian Kangaroos and the Kingdom of Tonga, tonight at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane: We tip the Tongans to wallaroodedoo the Kangaroos.
And for the Pacific Bowl Men’s Test tomorrow in Suva, we tip the Fiji Bati to razzledazzle the Papua New Guinea Kumuls, and the Tongan Women to googledoogle Samoa.
In Football: France and Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe is being investigated for rape by Swedish police, according to a newspaper report in Sweden, following a visit by the Real Madrid star to Stockholm, which Mbappe denounced as “fake news”.
Mbappe claimed in a post on X, that there was a link between the media report and his hearing before a French league committee on Tuesday, in his bitter dispute with his former Club Paris Saint-Germain over unpaid wages.
Mbappe claims he is owed 55 million euros by the Qatari-owned French champions.
“FAKE NEWS!!!! It’s becoming so predictable, on the eve of the hearing, as if by chance,” Mbappe posted.
In Boxing: The intensity is building between Tim Tszyu and Russia’s undefeated IBF World Super Welterweight Champion Bakhram Murtazaliev in Orlando, Florida, with Murtazaliev branding Tszyu an “idiot” and describing the presence of Tszyu’s Hall of Fame Father - Kostya, ringside as being no more beneficial than having Donald Trump or Sylvestor Stallone in his corner.
In the NFL: After a horrific home loss to the Detroit Lions 47-9, the largest home loss since 1988, the pressure gauge has nearly peaked for Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
Despite the “shocker” of a result on his 82nd birthday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed his support for McCarthy, saying, “I’m not considering that. Just so you’re clear, I’m not considering that.” That being firing him.
So McCarthy is safe for now and at 3-3, the season isn’t lost for the Cowboys, with no clear side taking control of the NFC East.
However, after the weekend’s disaster, it certainly feels like the bye week has come at a good time for the team.
With that in mind, what changes are required for a turnaround in Dallas?
Easy – hire Travis Kelce – right?
You get a good defensive tight end, plus most of all, you get what’s her name?
And that’s a wrap peeps!
