Table Manners: Table Setting by Rev. Emily McGinley
Manage episode 363423615 series 17303
Rev. Emily McGinley begins our new series, "Table Manners" by preaching a sermon from Luke 10:38-42.
"Table Manners" Series Overview: Whether hosted by elite religious and political leaders, outcasts, or poor folks, it was often at tables, over broken bread, where people were transformed in relationship to one another and with God. Jesus was often the guest and his table manners were unique; hosting space for the gathered to share stories, engage in debate, and build community in ways that expanded everyone’s imagination for what it looks like to embody the kinship of God’s people. It is also at tables where flavors are embedded and enfolded into the hopes, disappointments, and perseverance that shape the experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. A.A.P.I. Heritage is less a monolith than it is a collection of diverse stories, woven together by legacies of hope and sacrifice, which in turn connect us to a God who invites us to pull up a seat at the table and be part of a future where all can be nourished.
