Ms. Anita Hedgepeth lived in Algiers Point in 2012 and encountered a young man while walking to her car on January 25. She was approached by a man with a gun demanding her car, but she resisted. The situation escalated when the assailant grabbed her purse, resulting in a struggle. The victim intervened by jumping on the car's hood and was tragically shot. Amidst the chaos, the victim urged Ms. Hedgepeth to run before collapsing in her yard, leaving his children distraught. The assailant fled on foot, leaving a harrowing scene behind.
