On this session of The Bird and The Bear … Our hosts, Sammy Ray and Daryl Lazer, go wild with the variety as they talk signature scents, share their life updates from the past month, and react to the news of Aaron Bushnell’s self-immolation and Donald Trump’s sneaker drop … Let’s sort through it together!

(0:00) - The session opens with Daryl telling us about his signature scent and it leads into a quick conversation about the origins of cologne - “It was called, ‘The Sweet Shop,’ and it was the coolest s**t I’d ever walked into … I felt like I was in a foreign land.”

(15:13) - Daryl shares his life updates from the past month, starting with his trip to Utah and the drama that followed - “I think that learning to respect my own boundaries is going to push me in the direction of one of my New Year’s resolutions of respecting other peoples boundaries … Like, my extreme lack of boundaries means that some boundaries are invisible to me.”

(28:05) - While in Utah, Daryl attended his first Friday Night Smackdown - “I don’t know if I’d go to another live wrestling event … At least not like a professional one.”

(35:36) - Daryl wraps up his life updates by sharing some of the progress he’s making with his career resolutions for 2024 - “Saying that my technical skills are well placed with that type of impact, does not incentivize me doing that caliber of work anymore.”

(49:33) - Sammy shares his life updates from the past month, starting with his experience at Thunderdome - “The way it shoots on camera looks a lot better because the camera kinda picks up on like the 3D action more … Where as like, your standing in the crowd kind of underneath the screen, you can kinda see the pixels and everything kinda move at you a bit more … It’s almost like when people talk about going to The Sphere.”

(1:01:29) - Sammy briefly talks about the elite dinning experience he had for his six year anniversary with his partner before wrapping up his life updates with some of the progress he’s made with his fitness and festival goals for 2024 - “Those are the small things in life that make you feel good.”

(1:05:27) - Reactions to the news of Aaron Bushnell’s self-immolation in front of the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C. - “If this man gives his life in a foreign land for a war that actually isn’t protecting us as Americans, it’s just servicing capital and the greater military industrial complex, then that seems like dying for nothin.”

(1:37:18) - Reactions to Donald Trump unveiling new cologne and shoe line - “HA! They got the Prince of Persia 1’s.”
