#199: What’s the Difference Between an Uber Driver and a Deliveroo Rider? Why One Job Gets Employment Rights and the Other Job is Classed as Self Employed!
Manage episode 386723150 series 3003707
Hi there
We hope you are using your employment rights to assert your right to be treated fairly at work. Your employers know you have a right to do this!
In last week’s episode, we looked at the major differences in the employment rights, between someone who is self-employed and someone who is an employee or a worker.
In this second episode of the miniseries, we focus on why the key principle of ‘secondment’ is a deal breaker for your employment rights, using the recent Supreme Court ruling that decided that Deliveroo food delivery riders are classed as self-employed whilst Uber taxi drivers are classed as workers, who now get basic employment rights.
