In this episode, I deal with the question you’ve all heard and some of you may have even asked: “Why should I care about mass digital surveillance, if I have nothing to hide?”

The answer is simple — the question is wrong. The right question is: “What do you have that is worth protecting?”

The episode covers data-mining and data analysis and how the aggregation of data can be used to create a startlingly accurate profile of you that knows you better than you may know yourself and can even be used to predict your future actions and choices.

Sound clip one is from Ed Snowden’s 2014 interview with "NBC Nightly News" anchor and managing editor Brian Williams.

Sound clip two is from Kansas City’s 41 Action News’ report, “Smartphone pictures pose privacy risks.”

Enemy of the [Surveillance] State is written, produced, and narrated by C. Mitchell Shaw.

Theme song was created by Michael Leavitt.
