Happy Veils

Hello and thanks for listening to the happy veils podcast. I’m your host Kaytlyn Greene and today we’re going to deep dive into my story and how I got where I am today.

So, to kick things off, here’s 5 ish things about me:

I’m a dog mom to Pisco, a little 11 pound maltese who’s my best friend honestly, I’ve been with my husband for almost 12 years and we’ve been married for almost 3, I went to Appalachian state university and studied hospitality and tourism management, I love exercising and I'm always down for a walk at the greenway and last but not least, I love love which brings me to where I am today. I don’t have your typical story where I always knew I wanted to be a wedding planner. I have done several different jobs that taught me a lot, but also showed me what my passion wasn’t. At one point I thought I wanted to be an accounting major and after I got into my first laws of account and got like a 12 on my first exam, I quickly realized that I needed to go a different route. After I graduated from App, I got accepted into the Disneyland college program where I worked in retail and quickly learned that wasn’t the career I had hoped it would be for me. While I was there, I decided to get certified in wedding planning, in hopes that I would use it one day. My dad always taught me to get certified in as much as you possibly can, and learn different kinds of things so that’s the philosophy I live by.

After Disneyland, I worked in student housing, vacation rentals, and just felt that I was in a rut. For me, those jobs were just a paycheck at the end of the day, and it wasn’t my passion or what I felt my calling was. Several years later, I finally decided that I was going to take the very large leap and start my own wedding planning business, and, I never would’ve guessed how it would take off. I’m so thankful for where I am today and I can’t wait to see what the road ahead holds.

One of my favorite parts of wedding planning is that every wedding is different. I love hearing all of the ideas that these brides and grooms have, and how they all come together is so fun to see. I have always enjoyed planning and organizing things and making sure people are doing what they’re supposed to be doing and this role fits all those boxes. I mainly have weddings in North Carolina right now but one of my shorter term goals would be to be a traveling wedding planner…maybe I’ll put that on my 2024 vision board.
