The Church! Part 2

Pastor Edwards teaches on the mission of the church. It has not changed since Jesus gave us the blueprints for it in Matthew 28:19-20. The church must rise up and follow the great commission. We have work to do!

Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

1. The Church is Called to Make Disciples

15:16 (NKJV), Jesus says: "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain."

2. Teaching and Observing the Commands of Christ

II Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV) tells us: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." Teaching is not just for knowledge but to help believers live godly, fruitful lives.

3. Baptizing New Believers

Romans 6:4 (NKJV) "Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

4. Reaching the Nations

Acts 1:8 (NKJV) "You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

5. The Church's Power and Promise

Matthew 16:18 (NKJV): "I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."
