THE ACOUSTIC CAFÉ is a fortnightly program featuring a mix of singer – songwriter, Celtic, Cajun, global roots, traditional and contemporary folk, blues, country blues, bluegrass, country, old timey and Americana music from Australia and around the world. Live to air, 8pm, every second Tuesday.
This edition of The Acoustic Café is in three parts.
Firstly we hear music from singer songwriter Anna Tivel who is from Portland, Oregon, with a selection of tracks from albums released in 2014, 2016 and 2024.
We’ll then hear a selection of recordings made at tribute concerts for Canadian singer songwriter Kate McGarrigle in London, New York and Toronto following her death in 2010. Performers are Norah Jones, Rufus Wainwright, Emmylou Harris, Jimmy Fallon, Teddy Thompson, Anna McGarrigle, Justin Vivian Bond, and Jenni Muldaur.
The show finishes with a concert performance from the great Irish folk band Planxty, recorded at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin in August 1980.
