Gift of Information: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Manage episode 456129418 series 2442579
Tune in to find out from Litter Control Superintendent Meg Romero the many ways you can reduce, reuse, and recycle everything from wrapping paper and greeting cards to extra holiday food and those gifts that you just don’t need. Note about terminology: throughout this episode, you will hear the terms “accepted/acceptable” and “not accepted/not acceptable” in regards to items that cannot be recycled. We wanted to provide a clarification on exactly what this means. Even though certain items may be marked as “recyclable” on the label, the recycling facility that processes items collected in Charles County through curbside recycling and at our recycling locations may not be equipped to process those items. When items are not able to be processed, this has a negative impact on operations by slowing the sorting process and potentially contaminating other acceptable materials. The Environmental Resources Division asks that residents use the website https://www.charlescountymd.gov/services/environmental-resources or Charles County Recycles app to determine what items can and cannot be processed to Keep Charles County Beautiful!
Thanks for listening.
