Amid a scorching wildfire season in California, dozens of emergency posts sharing updates and evacuation information were blocked by Facebook. The social media platform flagged these posts as spam, leaving residents, responders, and other organizations in the dark. Washington Post Disaster Reporter Brianna Sacks joins Insight to talk about how important these social media groups are to rural communities, and the impact that removing these posts could have in an emergency situation.

The Rise of White Supremacy Accelerationism

The Department of Justice recently charged an Elk Grove woman with leading a transnational white supremacist terrorist organization called the Terrorgram Collective. Joining us today is Dr. Spencer Sunshine, a researcher and author of books about the radical right, to discuss what these charges mean and the rise of extremist movements.

‘The Right to Exist’ Documentary

Last month, Sacramento shut down the self-governed homeless encampment known as Camp Resolution. A documentary crew had been following camp residents for a year, and is combining their stories with expert analysis into the causes and costs of homelessness in Sacramento. Director Nick Anderson talks about The Right to Live, which will be having a free screening on Sept. 25 at the Guild Theater.
