In this episode, we discuss The Conjuring Universe and the first two homes depicted in the film adaptations. The first film within the Conjuring series was set in 1971, the story follows the Perron family, who move into an old farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island. Soon, they experience increasingly disturbing paranormal events. Desperate for help, they contact Ed and Lorraine Warren. As the Warrens investigate, they uncover the dark history of the house and face one of the most terrifying cases of their careers.
The second story occurs several years later, when Ed and Lorraine Warren traveled to Enfield, England, in 1977 to help a single mother and her four children. They face the terrifying case of the Hodgson family, particularly focusing on young Janet Hodgson, who seems to be the target of malevolent forces. Within the film, the Warrens encounter spectral figures, including the infamous "Crooked Man" and a terrifying nun, later revealed as Valak. However, the film adaption does embellish in theatrics to engage and scare the audience. In the real story, objects seemed to move on their own accord and Janet does appear to be possessed by a man named "Bill Wiklenson" who passed away after a stroke when he spoke words through Janet.
