The Marlins had the winning run at the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Arizona Diamondbacks- who had rallied to score seven runs in the last three innings- escaped to beat the Miami Marlins 10-8 on Wednesday night, finishing off a three-game sweep.

Marlins starter Roddery Muñoz was pulled after giving up three runs and five hits in just 3 1/3 innings, walking three and striking out three.

Josh Bell’s RBI single made it 6-4 before Gurriel cleared the bases with a drive to the wall in center field. Perdomo’s solo HR in the eighth, Jose Herrera's RBI triple in the ninth followed by Gurriel’s RBI single pretty much put the game away.

Miami loaded the bases against AZ Closer Martinez in the ninth, and Sánchez scored on a wild pitch, but Martinez struck out Kyle Stowers and David Hensley to seal the deal. Marlins manager Skip Schumaker was ejected after arguing the called third strike on Edwards in the eighth.

Burger hit his 25th homer and 15th since the All-Star break for the Marlins, who have lost six of seven and dropped to an NL-worst 46-81. Burger’s two-run homer in the first put the Marlins ahead 2-1. It was Miami’s first lead of the series.

The Marlins play the Chicago Cubs in a three-game series starting Friday at Loan Depot Park. Max Meyer (3-3) will start for Miami, taking on Chicago's Kyle Hendricks. (3-10)
