In this episode, Drs. Kevin Hull, Ken Miller, and David Jones discuss their methods for integrating their faiths with the case conceptualization model.

Dr. Kevin Hull owns and operates Hull and Associates, P.A. a private practice in Lakeland, Florida. Dr. Hull is a licensed counselor who has worked with children and adolescents and their families on the Autism spectrum since 2001. He conducts weekly individual and group therapy sessions with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. Dr. Hull has been a professor for 18 years and is currently a CORE assistant faculty in Liberty University’s online counseling degree. Dr. Hull has published Play Therapy and Asperger’s Syndrome: Helping Children and Adolescents Grow, Connect, and Heal through the Art of Play (2011, Jason Aronson); Bridge Building: Creating Connection and Relationship between Parents and Children and Adolescents on the Autism Spectrum (2012, Liberty Press); Group Therapy Techniques with Children, Adolescents, and Adults on the Autism Spectrum (2014, Jason Aronson); and Where There is Despair, Hope (2015, Liberty Mountain Publishing), a novel about play therapy. He has also published several chapters for textbooks and journal articles. Dr. Hull specializes in using electronic devices in group and individual play therapy and his dissertation work examined the use of video/computer games as a play therapy tool for children with emotional difficulties. Dr. Hull enjoys open water swimming in the Gulf of Mexico, playing golf, long walks, biking, and spending time with his wife, Wendy and their four children.

Dr. Miller counseled individuals and couples for many years as a pastoral counselor before becoming a clinical mental health counselor and counselor educator. In addition to his current academic duties, he serves as a Chapter Faculty Advisor (CFA) for the Chi Sigma Iota Rho Eta online student chapter Rho Eta Sigma Epsilon. Dr. Miller has co-authored a clinical textbook on case conceptualization; written chapters for textbooks; and presents at national, state, and local counseling workshops. With colleagues, he has developed a Biblical wellness model that helps churches address emotional health issues. His research interests include Biblical wellness, attribution theory, and problematic pornography use. As a licensed professional counselor, Dr. Miller works with individuals, couples, and adolescents treating a wide spectrum of mental health issues. He serves as a clinical director for a non-profit community counseling agency that treats general mental illness and is also regionally known for treating trauma.

As a counselor educator, Dr. Jones has taught in clinical mental health, marriage & family, and school counseling programs. As a professional counselor, he has worked with individuals, couples, and families, across the lifespan, and in a variety of settings (K-12, private practice, hospital, community agency, and church). Before his career change to a counselor educator, Dr. Jones worked as an epidemiologist for over a decade. Through these experiences, he is able to build a bridge between professional counseling and public health. Dr. Jones’ scholarly interests include prevention, health disparities, mixed methods research, community-based participatory research, and spirituality/religion in counseling. Dr. Jones teaches students from all over the country who are pursuing an online counseling degree at Liberty University.
