Hey there Surfers! Ready to catch the latest wave on the East Coast? Today's surf zone forecast for New York is here with all the deets you need to know before hitting the beach.
Let's start with Kings (Brooklyn), where we've got a high rip current risk until 6 PM this evening. The surf height is cruising around 3 feet, with the surf temperature in the upper 60s. So expect cloudy skies with a chance of rain, and a high temperature reaching the upper 60s. Winds will be coming in from the East at around 15 miles per hour.
Over in Southern Queens, hang loose with a similar setup - high rip current risk, 3-foot waves, and a low UV Index. The surf temperature is feeling nice in the upper 60s, and the weather calls for more cloud cover and possible rain. Winds from the East will be blowing at 15 to 20 miles per hour.
Moving on to Southern Nassau, the situation remains consistent. High rip current risk, 3-foot waves, and cloudy skies with a chance of rain. Don't forget your flotation device as you soak up the upper 60s temperatures and brace for East winds at 15 to 20 miles per hour.
Down in Southwestern Suffolk, expect the high rip current risk and 3-foot waves to continue. The surf temperature is in the upper 60s, with cloudy weather and a chance of rain. Look out for mid-60s temperatures and East winds around 20 miles per hour.
Lastly, for Southeastern Suffolk, the waves are a bit bigger around 4 feet, with the high rip current risk sticking around. The surf temperature is in the mid-60s, and it's mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. East winds of about 15 miles per hour will be blowing your way.
Remember, rip currents are nothing to mess with, so be cautious out there and always swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. And if you need help, face the shore and signal for assistance.
So grab your boards, pack your sunscreen, and hit those beaches with caution. Until next time, stay safe and catch those waves responsibly!
