Darren Eales to step down as Newcastle CEO (Soccer 09/27)

The Morning Footy crew react to the unfortunate and heartbreaking news that Darren Eales is set to step down as CEO of Newcastle due to health reasons. He's been diagnosed with a chronic form of blood cancer. Eales joined Newcastle in August of 2022 and will stay in his role until a successor is hired. Eales was Atlanta United's first team President serving as the architect of Atlanta's MLS Cup-winning side in 2018, also leading the club from its debut to 2022.
