Vasectomies are on the rise, ever since the Supreme Court decision overturning Roe versus Wade. Because plenty of men are also interested in avoiding unwanted pregnancies. So would they be willing to do what women do and take birth control? Some male birth control products are showing promising signs in clinical trials.
So how far are we from bringing male birth control to market? Would men be willing to take it? And what’s the hold up – why doesn’t this exist already?
The group of experts we gathered tell us men are ready for contraception. We’re waiting on the system to catch up to our needs. To discuss it all I’m joined by Dr. Stephanie Page
Professor of Medicine and Board Certified Endocrinologist at the University of Washington School of Medicine. She is helping to conduct a trial for a hormonal contraceptive gel for men. Heather Vahdat is Executive director of the Male Contraceptive Initiative, a nonprofit that funds research into non-hormonal, reversible male birth control. Dr. Ariel Moradzadeh, is a Men’s Health and Reproductive Urologist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. And Dr. Emily Morse founder and host of the #1 Sexuality podcast on iTunes, Sex with Emily.
This conversation was originally held live on the Clubhouse App.
