BUREAUCRAT’S MURDER LOOKED LIKE GANGLAND HIT

Hello, I’m Jay Nicoll from Nicoll Investigations and I’m here to tell you about the next episode of Ontario Cold Cases - Canada’s True Crime Podcast, coming this Sunday, November 3rd.

Two bullets.

One in the head. One in the neck. And that was the end of deputy city planning commissioner Phillip Rimmington, 42.

The February 10th, 1983 murder in Rimmington’s underground garage at 231 Balliol St. in a quiet north-end Toronto neighbourhood had all the earmarks of gangland hit. Except, Rimmington had no enemies and was steadfastly apolitical.

The father of one was recently separated and his killer left few clues for cops. Basically crumbs.

They knew Rimmington had desperately run for his life as his body was found near an emergency exit. Two briefcases were also nearby, one filled with cassette tapes.

The victim also owned three handguns — all missing.

So was it work related in his dealings with developers, personal or a random robbery? Join me this week as we try to unravel this unsolved murder.
