#20 Pathway to net-zero: Protecting the future value of assets through decarbonisation
Manage episode 401785126 series 3317799
With tenants increasingly desiring sustainable buildings, governments adopting legally binding net-zero carbon targets, and rising concerns around embodied carbon, decarbonising our building stock is essential - and the risks of not taking action are immense.
In this episode, we explore how decarbonisation programmes can protect or enhance the future value of an asset, how adopting a sustainable approach can help avoid stranding risks or erosions in value known as ‘brown discounts’, and why, ultimately, this is the right thing to do. We discuss the best ways of decarbonising an asset, including the benefits of retrofitting versus demolition. And we hear real world examples of both successful decarbonisation projects, and those that have failed to keep pace.
Your host is Andrew Belt and on the panel we have:
- Mathieu Elshout, PATRIZIA Head of Sustainability and Impact Investing
- Kate Crawford, Technical Director of sustainable construction and procurement specialists, KLH Sustainability
