Anyone with their eyes open can see it. The world is changing more rapidly than ever before. Changes that used to happen generation to generation or even decade to decade, are now happening day to day.
Not enough people are talking about how to adapt to these changes. Seth Godin and James Altucher are among the very few who are talking about how to adapt to the rapidly changing times that are impacting people today.
Proof: General Motors used to be the largest employer in the USA. Many felt that if they got a job there, they had a shot at the American dream. They could make a good living, enough to buy a home, send their kids to college and retire with a good pension. This was done mostly by performing repetitive tasks that didn’t require a high level of education or training.
Today, the largest employer is Walmart. Sales associates start at $8.84 per hour. How many people working at Walmart do you think have a shot at the American dream today?
The good news: Huge opportunities exist for entrepreneurs. Many of the gate keepers are gone. Publishing houses are being replaced by self publishing. Record companies are being replaced by iTunes and other online platforms. Social media can spread the word about new ideas and creations.
