That’s disgusting, but what can you do to protect yourself? 1. Vet the sponsor in detail. 2. Don’t base your decision on return projections. High returns and short timelines typically mean high risk. 3. Be diligent and cautious around companies with fancy marketing and not a lot of meat. 4. Look for track record and ask for referrals 5. Deep dive into the business plan and the current financial viability of the investment.
