Inspired by a sexist comment about teen girls and shopping, the youth producers try to deconstruct what we mean when we talk about...THE MALL! Everyone shares their first reaction to the phrase itself, and then digs deeper, examining the idea that women are mall-obsessed. The team--all of whom are female and decidedly mall-indifferent--debunk that stereotype pretty quickly, and move on to the topic of consumerism. They discuss the social rules and statuses associated with shopping at the mall and being able to buy expensive, "fashionable" clothing. Where do the "cool kids" shop?
