“If you really want something, no matter what it is, don’t expect somebody to give it to you. You have to go out and get it.” Hank Winchester Denise talks to Hank Winchester, broadcast journalist and consumer investigative reporter for Michigan’s WDIV Channel 4 News. Although Hank is most proud of being a parent, he’s a very proud Michigander—born, raised and never plans to leave. He loves doing a job that gives him the chance to help people as head of WDIV’s “Help Me Hank” Consumer Unit. Solving consumer complaints and tracking down thieves is an honor and a privilege he doesn’t take lightly. Hank shares his philosophy on dealing with the challenges of working in a very judgmental industry. Find out how being determined and taking initiative helped him to manifest his career movement into bigger television markets. Believing in yourself only gets you so far. It’s in knowing where you want to go and saying it out loud that you experience momentum.
Hank and Denise share a love of humor, quality time with family and Detroit. Hank reflects on the city’s awesome transformation which they both feel fortunate to see in her lifetime, recognizing the contributions of so many who have gone before them.
Hank’s favorite quote by hometown hero Henry Ford sums up so much of what he shares on the podcast. “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t…you’re right.”
