Married couple Kathy and Steve have experienced homelessness and displacement for 8 years in Los Angeles. They share the raw and visceral story of losing their home and all possessions, surviving floods and fires, how they choose between food or life-changing medicine for Kathy's condition, and how the News and government lied publicly about helping them with housing. We discuss dealing with violence, discrimination, and heightened vulnerability, the truth about emergency services and shelters, how homelessness affected their marriage, how they stay mentally, emotionally and physically resilient, and their advice for battling the stigma, how strangers can really help, and what to do if you or a loved one is experiencing displacement.
