Virginia Dwan is an American art collector, art patron and philanthropist. She is the visionary and founder of the Dwan Light Sanctuary in Montezuma, New Mexico and the former owner and executive director of the Dwan Gallery Los Angeles (1959 – 1967) and Dwan Gallery New York (1965 – 1971), a contemporary art gallery closely identified with the American movements of Minimalism, Conceptual Art and Earthworks. She currently lives in New York and Santa Fe, NM.
Max Protetch is a contemporary art dealer and founder of Max Protetch gallery in Washington, D.C., and later in New York City. In 1969, at the age of 23, Max Protetch opened his first gallery in Washington, D.C., while a graduate student in political science at Georgetown University. Over the course of 40-plus years, Protetch explored the new and the relevant, including Minimal, Conceptual, and Pop art in the 1970s; architecture in the late 70s and 1980s; and, since the 1990s, an engagement with a broad range of contemporary art, including art from China.
