It's What's in the Heart that Matters
Cindy Hyde and Joanie Buchanan
Real Talk with Joanie and Cindy
Cindy: If you are not as tall as you want to be or as short, those things really don't matter because I think Joanie said at the beginning of the show, it's what's in your heart that matters. And that's what the Lord looks upon. That's what others really see. They might think, oh she's really big, but if they look and for just that moment they see what's in your heart then you've got them. If the love of God is in your heart they will see it. Don't get all wrapped up in all those physical kinds of insecurities.
Cindy: Because I want to tell you something: The Lord thinks you are absolutely, ravishingly beautiful just like you are. There is no one else like you. You are unique, even down to the individual freckles on your little nose, you are adorable to Him. He wants you to be secure in him. And I don't think there's really, and I know Joanie will agree with me. I don't think there's anything more beautiful than to see a woman walk in a room with confidence. I'm not talking about being cocky. I'm not talking about being full of herself. I'm talking about a woman who carries herself with confidence. That she knows who she is and she's not afraid of what other people may think. She is self-assured because of her relationship with the Lord. Humility has to go along with that. And, and when you have a healthy respect for yourself, then you do have that humility.
Joanie: That is so true. And you know, it really permeates. It real. It's like a fragrant and the room. Uh, when you see someone come in and you just know, hey, there's something different about that person. That's not what they look like on the outside. It's just, uh, you can feel it can't you, and it's a spirit of God in that person that they're just releasing the spirit of God. To be what God wants him to be.
Joanie: And when you pray, say, Lord, show me how you see me, not how my family sees me or my friends or my school. Just show me how you see me and help me to go forward in that instead of what people have said about me. And you said that right too. Because confidence is not somebody who thinks that they're better than other people who try to overrule people or anything like that.
Cindy: Yeah. It's not easy to learn to live without insecurities. But my thing is you learned to live with them. You learned how to be insecure. So it's just a choice. Learn to be secure. But place your security in the Lord Jesus.
