The Last Trip

Alex Gumm was living with his parents in Maine when he took a vow of silence, adopted a plant-based diet, and delved into research on various religions, conspiracy theories, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life on Earth.
After breaking his silence, he informed his parents that he was heading to Hawaii to seek enlightenment. The next day, he shaved his head, and his parents dropped him off at a bus station.
He was 25 years old when he arrived on Kauai on February 22, 2018—and vanished two days later.
With no clues, many theories have emerged, with his friends and family believing he’s still alive and living off the grid in the island’s vast wilderness.
