Today, for the first time ever, I spoke with someone who had also left a cult and was trying to rebuild his life.
Quick update if you don't know:
I grew up in a fundamentalist household, cut off from what "normal" people got to experience - no TV, movies, makeup, jewelry, parties, dances, and later no alcohol and discouraged from having friends outside The Truth (as it is called).
But I left it in 2008 and continued to suffer from self-sabotage behaviours that came from living like that.
In 2018, I realized that I could use my story for GOOD and that's been my focus ever since.
Today, I had the privilege of sharing how I converted a traumatic past into something that I can use to help others.
