Manage episode 280048459 series 2758042
Episode 45 is a conversation with Dilip Sivaraman about clockmaking and all the things that go into the art of horology. We talk about how he found his interest in clockmaking and the various factors that are to be kept in mind while making a clock that is precise. This episode will help answer a few questions that budding horologists may have!
Dilip Sivaraman is an Architect who found his love for horology when he was trying to get a grandfather clock fixed. He took it to numerous clockmakers and on not finding a solution, dismantled the clock and tried to fix it himself. One thing led to another and he ended up developing an interest in this art and spent his time perfecting his own movement. He was the finalist in the AHCI young talent competition that is held in Switzerland. To date, he has perfected two clocks named Gato and Lisko and there are two other clocks o his drawing board that is on the precipice of coming to life. Each clock is mechanical and is designed in a fashion that it can be passed on from generation to generation!
