Today in the Big Apple, we're looking at a high near 88°F with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could be severe, so keep an eye out. Heat index values might reach as high as 97°F. The wind will start lightly from the southwest but will shift to a southward direction at 5 to 9 miles per hour.
Tonight, expect more showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 am, followed by a chance of showers. The low will be around 75°F with a southwest wind blowing at around 6 miles per hour.
As we move into Thursday, there's just a slight 20% chance of morning showers. The day will gradually brighten up with mostly sunny skies and a high near 83°F. The wind will be coming from the northwest at around 7 miles per hour.
Thursday night is expected to be partly cloudy with a low around 70°F. The north wind will pick up a bit to 6 to 10 miles per hour.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday will be sunny with a high near 81°F, while Friday night will bring mostly clear skies with a low around 71°F. Saturday and Sunday will also have plenty of sunshine with highs in the low to mid-80s.
