I got to interview an Iron Chef?! I am delighted to be joined by the legendary, Chef Susur Lee. Chef Susur Lee has long been an icon in the culinary world, helming 3 restaurants in Toronto, Lee, Lee Kitchen, and Kid Lee. That’s on top of serving as a celebrity judge on Chopped Canada and Masterchef Asia. With 45 years of culinary experience under his belt, Susur was lauded as one of the “Ten Chefs of the Millennium” by Food & Wine magazine. This feels like such a full-circle moment for me as I used to watch him on Master Chef with my parents when I was younger to now being able to sit here and interview him! I’ve absolutely loved his appearances on his son's (Jet Bent Lee) TikTok - where he transforms fast food into gourmet meals!

In this episode, we chat about his upbringing in Hong Kong and some of his first memories with food, moving to Canada and starting a life, Cantonese culture vs. Canadian culture, advice for young chefs getting into the industry, breaking down the hierarchy of the restaurant industry, his family and how media has affected his career and then we end the episode with some fun rapid-fire questions like the best meal he made during the pandemic!
